What is IPEMA?

IPEMA, the International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association, provides 3rd party Product Certification services for U.S. public play equipment and public play surfacing materials in the U.S.  IPEMA services IPEMA-certified member companies, affiliated playground industry groups and anyone with an interest in playground equipment regulations.

IPEMA is a non-profit, membership, trade association.

Playground surfaces must meet state mandated requirements.

The State of Texas has adopted CPSC (US Consumer Product Safety Commission) into Law, effective August 28, 1995.  The Playgrounds/Playground Equipment Standards Public Funds Act has amended the Health & Safety Code (Sec. 1, Chap. 756) by adding subchapter E:

"Publicly Funded Playground; When public funds are used, the equipment, installation and surfacing must meet the CPSC Handbook for Public Playground Safety."
